Zoar Baptist Church -  Coronavirus Updates

Romans 13:1-2  “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.” NASB

Due to the Governor's proclamation that he signed, which halts any gathering of 250 people or more and closing the public schools, in person services at Zoar Baptist Church will be suspended until further notice. >>

We will use this page to provide you with updates as it relates to Zoar Baptist Church, our members, and community.

Updated may 13, 2020:

We are excited to announce that worship services will resume on Sunday, May 17th. There will be further review and announcements when other church activities may resume. There will be no children activities, nursery, or preschool on Sunday Mornings.

Church Office:

Our church office will be CLOSED to all non-staff visitors. However, our staff will be available by phone. You may call the church office number at 225-261-3434.

If you need to drop off giving or forms, you can do so in the secure lock box on the office door.

Sunday Worship:

With the lifting of the stay-at-home order, we are now one step closer to returning to a somewhat normal life. We are anxious to worship together, fellowship as a church family and serve together. We are ready to see you!

Beginning Sunday, May 17th, we will be offering two worship services at Zoar – 9:00am and 11:00am.  The regulations require that we only allow 200 people in each service.  Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. There will be overflow rooms available. Those who attend are encouraged to wear face masks. These are the Guidelines that Zoar will follow.

Vulnerable people are encouraged NOT to attend.  Vulnerable people are defined, by the government, as the elderly and Individuals with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy.

Due to social distancing guidelines, there will be no children activities, which includes nursery, preschool, and children church, and Sunday school will remain online via Zoom until further notice.

For those who cannot attend physically, we will be offering our worship service online via Facebook Live, YouTube, and streaming live from our website.

If you miss the Sunday Worship service or do not have Facebook, the worship service will be available on our website after the service.

Sunday School:

There will be alternative ways for Sunday School classes to meet and have a lesson each week online. Your Sunday School teacher will reach out to their classes.

Here is good video tutorial on how to use Zoom >> Zoom Instructions. We will be using Zoom for our Sunday school classes to stay connected from week to week until we can resume normal in person classes.

Do you have children and wonder what you can do with them at home? Check out our Children Resource age to find some awesome resources on how to have bible study among other things at home.

As a reminder, the church still has financial obligations, therefore, it is important to remember you can still give during this time. We have several options:

  • Give Online
  • Text to Give at 225-258-1661
  • Mail your giving to the church office.
  • Place your giving in the secure lock box on the office door.

Personal Shopping:

Zoar Baptist Church wants to minister to our church members and community who are 70 or older and are in need to essential items. We need some personal shoppers. If you are a church member at Zoar Baptist Church who would like to be a personal shopper, please contact our church office at 225-261-3434.

Zoar Connection:

The goal of “Zoar Connection” is to personally contact all resident Zoar members. Much effort is already being made by Sunday School classes and other age-graded ministries to stay in contact with members and respond to ministry opportunities.

Volunteers will be provided a list of resident members based on similar age-group and sex (male to male, female to female) or requested age group. The list contains home and cell phone numbers, along with age. Contact Dennis for a list. ( or 225-772-1685) for an emailed list.

Ministry meals:

Zoar Baptist Church provides ministry meals once per month on a regular basis. However, during the Coronavirus pandemic, we will be providing ministry meals every other week. If you are 65 years or older and in need of a meal, please contact our church office at 225-261-3434 so we can put your name on the list.
